About me
Dr. Leah Kelley (she/her) is a Neurodivergent author, educator, activist, and education consultant whose work bridges the worlds of storytelling, advocacy, and inclusive practice. With over 25 years of experience in public education—as a classroom teacher, inclusion resource teacher (K–12), and SEL/Mental Health Helping Teacher—she brings deep practical insight to her writing and public speaking.
She is passionate about Disability Studies in Education (DSE) and making the ideas and concepts of DSE more widely understood and accessible, with focus on strength-based perspectives for inclusive practices and pedagogy, supporting neurodiversity, addressing ableism, and cultivating advocacy.
Leah currently collaborates with families, schools, universities, and community organizations, and is a sought-after speaker known for her storytelling, authenticity, and relational approach. She has presented nationally and internationally on topics such as Neurodiversity, advocacy, and inclusion, and also authors the popular Blog 30 Days of Autism where she shares reflections on neurodiversity, inclusion, parenting, and the power of connection. Her book, The Person Who Arrives: Connecting Disability Studies to Educational Practice for Teachers, Parents, and Others (Tellwell Press, 2023), weaves together lived experience, professional expertise, and a call for change that resonates with educators, families, and fellow advocates alike.
